Workshop: International Standardization of Carbon Films
Carbon-based coatings are very well established in many industrial applications. They are offered worldwide from coating suppliers in a large range of different film types: amorphous carbon coatings (diamond-like carbon, DLC) as well as CVD diamond coatings. The potential endusers are confronted with a large variety of film sub-types, abbreviations, deposition techniques and brand names. This fact as well as the international supplier-customer relationships give the strong demand for an international standardization of carbon films to establish a clear terminology and a worldwide common understanding of this matter, especially at the industrial endusers. This workshop follows previous workshops held 2008 in Korea and 2009 in Japan. It is intended to share the worldwide status of carbon film classifications and standards and to step forward to a common international standardization work.
The workshop will be chaired by Dr. Klaus Bewilogua, Fraunhofer-Institut für Schicht- und Oberflächentechnik IST, Braunschweig, Germany.
This workshop (PDF, 15KB) will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, 9:25 - 12:05.
